: Cory Jefferson scored 17 points and Pierre Jackson added 15 as the host Bears pulled away late to top the Spartans.

Baylor (7-3) held South Carolina Upstate without a basket for more than eight minutes down the stretch to break open a close game. Freshman Isaiah Austin had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears, who recorded 23 assists on 29 baskets.

Ricardo Glenn scored 15 points on 7 of 8 shooting to pace the Spartans (4-6). The other four USC Upstate starters combined to shoot 7 of 28.

The Bears led by seven early in the second half before the visitors chipped away and got within 51-50 on an Adrian Rogers jumper with 8:23 left. However, the Spartans would not have another field goal until three seconds remained in the game.

Rico Gathers threw down a dunk to answer Rogers' jumper and ignite the closing 22-7 run for Baylor. Brady Heslip made his only two 3-pointers and A.J. Walton had six of his 10 points in the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: USC Upstate was 1-for-6 from the floor and had six of its 20 turnovers in the final 8:23. ... Heslip missed his first five shots. He scored all eight of his points in the final 8:37. ... Austin has three double-doubles this season.
