Northwestern 74, Texas State 68: Dave Sobolewski had 18 points and the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:45 left as the Wildcats rallied late to beat the visiting Bobcats.

Sobolewski and Kale Abrahamson each went 3-of-7 from the 3-point line. Reggie Hearn added 15 points for the Wildcats (8-3), who trailed by six points with 3:31 left.

Joel Wright and Wesley Davis each scored 19 points for the Bobcats (4-7).

Corey Stern's dunk capped a 12-2 run and gave the Bobcats a 68-62 lead but Stern was given a technical foul for hanging on the rim. Northwestern's Jared Swopshire hit one of the foul shots to start a 12-0 run to close the game.

The Bobcats led 39-37 at halftime after closing the first half with a 6-0 run. Neither team led by more than six in the tight second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas State senior forward Matt Staff hit all four of his free-throw attempts and is 33-of-33 on the season. ... Abrahamson started in place of senior F Drew Crawford and finished with nine points. Crawford was the team's second-leading scorer but will miss the rest of the season after shoulder surgery. ... Northwestern improved to 4-0 against teams from the state of Texas this season.
