No. 17 Baylor 84, Boston College 74: Senior point guard Pierre Jackson recorded 31 points and seven assists as the Bears outlasted the Eagles in the first round of the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.

Isaiah Austin, a 7-1 freshman who missed the last game with an ankle injury, capped an 8-1 run with a 3-pointer that gave Baylor a 75-66 lead with 4:00 left. Austin finished with 16 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (3-0), who will play Colorado in Friday's semifinals.

Ryan Anderson scored 25 points and Olivier Hanlan added 16 for Boston College (1-1), which led by as much as five in the second half. The Eagles, who finished 9-22 a season ago, will play Dayton in Friday's losers' bracket.

Jackson shot 7-for-8 from the field en route to 17 first-half points as Baylor took as much as a nine-point lead before intermission. Austin added four points and five rebounds before halftime.

Anderson scored his team’s first 10 points and finished with 19 in the opening 20 minutes, including a 3-pointer from half court at the buzzer for a 43-41 lead. Anderson made 8-of-12 shots from the field in the first half, but was held to 1-of-4 in the second.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Baylor has won 16 straight November games and improved to 3-0 for the sixth consecutive season. … Boston College, which averaged 59.3 points last season, has scored 158 in the first two games. … The Bears made six 3-pointers in each half.
