Kansas 63, Purdue 60: The Jayhawks overcame a huge game from Purdue star Robbie Hummel and rallied after trailing for most of the game to advance to face No. 11 seed North Carolina State in the Midwest Regional semifinal Friday in St. Louis.

Hummel scored a game-high 26 points, including five 3-pointers, but he misfired on what would have been the go-ahead shot on Purdue's next-to-last possession, allowing the No. 2 seed Jayhawks (29-6) to escape.

Purdue (22-13) scored the first eight points and led all the way until Elijah Johnson's deep 3-pointer with 3:06 left gave the Jayhawks their first lead of the game at 57-56.

Johnson's steal and layup put Kansas back in front with 23.3 seconds left, and Hummel missed a 3-pointer with 12 seconds to go, leading to a Tyshawn Taylor dunk.

Purdue's desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer bounced off the backboard and rim.

Johnson scored 18 points to lead the Jayhawks, who endured a rough shooting night from their stars. Thomas Robinson finished with 11 points on two-of-12 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Tyshawn Taylor scored 10 points on four-of-11 shooting.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Hummel made nine field goals, while the rest of the team made 11… Robinson scored in double digits for the 23rd consecutive game and posted his 25th double-double, matching Drew Gooden's school record. He has 11 double-doubles in his last 14 games… A power outage in West Lafayette, Ind., kept hometown fans from watching the Boilermakers.
