Murray State 58, Colorado State 41: Isaiah Canaan and Donte Poole combined for 28 points and Murray State used an 18-2 run to start the second half in a 17-point win over Colorado State.

Murray State (31-1) advances to play the winner of Marquette-BYU game in the third round on Saturday.

Trailing 24-23 at halftime, the sixth-seeded Racers held Colorado State (20-12) to just one field goal in the first 11 minutes of the second half. Murray State forced 10 turnovers during the run to take control.

Canaan led Murray State with 15 and Poole added 13 as the Racers won their first game in the NCAA tourney for the second straight year. MSU upset Vanderbilt in the first round in 2010.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Murray State tied the school record for wins, matching the 2009-10 team that finished 31-5 and was coached by Billy Kennedy, now the head coach at Texas A&M. Kennedy, who left after last season, was at the game rooting on his former team and assistant Steve Prohm, now the head coach … MSU won a NCAA tourney game for just the third time in school history.
