North Carolina State 78, Boston College 57: Scott Wood nailed five 3-pointers as the Wolfpack beat the Eagles and kept their NCAA tournament hopes alive.

No. 5-seed NC State (21-11) advanced to face fourth-seeded Virginia in Friday’s quarterfinals. Wood finished with 22 points, hitting 5 of 9 from beyond the arc, and has made 13 3-pointers over the last three games.

Freshman-laden Boston College (9-22) lost for the 12th time in 14 games and set a school record for most losses in a season.

C.J. Williams’ 30-footer at the halftime buzzer gave NC State a 37-24 lead. The Eagles never got closer than six in the second half.

It was the teams’ first meeting in the ACC tournament, but the Pack’s third victory over the Eagles this season.

Forward Ryan Anderson led Boston College with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Game Notebook: NC State PG Lorenzo Brown had eight assists, giving him 202 this season and vaulting him ahead of Spud Webb (199) for seventh on the school’s single-season list. … NC State improved to 4-5 as the tourney’s No. 5 seed. … B.C., which relies heavily on 3-pointers, went 7 of 23 from beyond the arc.
