UCLA 55, USC 40: Lazeric Jones scored 15 points and the Bruins used a 25-4 run to roll in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament.

Travis Wear recorded 12 points and nine rebounds and twin brother David Wear grabbed 10 boards for fifth-seeded UCLA (19-13), which plays No. 4 seed Arizona in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Freshman Byron Wesley had 13 points and eight rebounds for the 12th-seeded Trojans (6-26), who ended their season on a 10-game losing streak and lost 19 of their last 20 games.

The Trojans took a 21-14 lead on Wesley’s jumper with 4:02 left before the Bruins scored the last eight points prior to intermission.

After USC’s Greg Allen opened the second half with a basket, UCLA scored the next nine points and later tacked on an 8-0 run to increase its lead to 39-25. USC got no closer than 10 after that and UCLA led by as many as 17.

GAME NOTEBOOK: UCLA center Josh Smith, who averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17.7 minutes this season, did not play in the first half because he missed the team bus. He first entered with 16:03 remaining and left 3:12 later with three points and three fouls. … The teams combined to shoot 25.4 percent in the first half. … UCLA split with Arizona during the regular season. … USC finished the season with only six healthy scholarship players.
