Martavious Irving came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points and Rodney McGruder added 13 as No. 24 Kansas State routed host Texas Tech 69-47 on Wednesday for its third straight victory.

Kansas State (15-4, 4-3 Big 12) rolled in this one in large part because of its defense. The Wildcats forced the Red Raiders into 25 turnovers and limited them to 38.5 percent shooting.

Texas Tech (7-12, 0-7), meanwhile, lost its seventh consecutive game and faces the possibility of finishing winless in the month of January. The Red Raiders haven’t won since Dec. 30 when they defeated Southeastern Louisiana 62-54.

The Wildcats took a 31-20 lead at the half and quickly extended the advantage to 47-27 with 13:20 left on Irving’s jumper.

Jordan Tolbert had a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds for the Red Raiders, who lost their fourth straight against the Wildcats. Kevin Wagner added 16 on 5-of-16 shooting as only two other Texas Tech players registered a basket.

The Red Raiders have been held to 55 points or less in each of their last five games and have yet to score more than 60 in conference play. The 47 points was their second lowest of the season.

Jordan Henriquez, Kansas State’s junior forward who had been suspended indefinitely and missed the last game because of conduct detrimental to the team, entered with 2:59 left. He finished with two points on a pair of late free throws.
