Draymond Green had 22 points, 14 rebounds and six assists as No. 11 Michigan State gave coach Tom Izzo his 400th career victory with a 68-52 win over visiting Minnesota on Wednesday.

Branden Dawson added 16 points for the Spartans (17-4, 6-2), who defeated the Golden Gophers (15-6, 3-5) for the 13th consecutive time.

Not only was Green’s 11th double-double important to Michigan State moving into a three-way tie atop the conference with Ohio State and Michigan, it also allowed him to pass former Spartan Paul Davis for sole possession of fourth place on the school’s all-time rebounding list.

With his one steal, he also tied Sam Vincent for sixth place in school history with 159.

The Spartans took the lead for good on a layup from Green less than five minutes into the game as the Gophers had no answer for the do-everything power forward.

Although Minnesota was able to cut Michigan State’s was able to move to within 46-41 midway through the second half, Green scored six of the next 12 points as the Spartans stretched their advantage to as many as 19 points late in the game.

Izzo was visibly emotional in the final seconds as the crowd repeatedly chanted “400.”

The win also improved the Spartans to 13-0 at the Breslin Center with 12 of those victories by a margin of at least 13 points.

Rodney Williams scored 15 points to pace the Gophers, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.
