Jaye Crockett had 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to help Texas Tech grind out a 62-54 victory over visiting Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night.

Freshman Jordan Tolbert, the Red Raiders’ leading scorer, scored 11 points, but all of those came in the first half. After the break, Tolbert struggled with foul trouble and couldn’t find any rhythm due to frequent double- and triple-teams from defenders.

Texas Tech sophomore Javarez Willis finished with a team-high 15 points on 8-of-8free-throw shooting, most of which came in the final minute of the game.

Daron Populist scored all 10 of his points in the first half to lead Southeastern Louisiana (5-6), which shot only 28 percent but hung close throughout the game with some pesky defense.

The Red Raiders (7-5) moved to 6-0 at United Spirit Arena this season and will open Big 12 play at Oklahoma State on Jan. 4.

Texas Tech outshot Southeastern Louisiana 47 to 28 percent in the first half but led only 30-26 at the break.

After halftime, though, the Red Raiders held the Lions to only one field goal in the opening 6½ minutes, taking a 40-28 lead on back-to-back jumpers by Willis.
