C.J. Harris hit the game-winning layup with 3.4 seconds remaining as visiting Wake Forest downed Nebraska 55-53 Wednesday.

Chase Fischer and Carson Desrosiers each scored a team-high 13 points for the Demon Deacons (5-2), who grabbed their first true road win since defeating Virginia on February 6, 2010.

With the game tied at 53-53, Bo Spencer had an opportunity to give the Huskers a late lead with 24 seconds remaining, but missed a tough floater from about 12 feet out. Following a timeout, Harris worked the clock down until he drove around a screen for the go-ahead basket.

Spencer’s half-court desperation attempt went just long, sending the Huskers (4-2) to just their third home non-conference loss in their last 54 games.

Wake Forest, playing its fourth game in seven days, started out slow and trailed by as many as eight points in the early going as Nebraska controlled the first half.

However, the Demon Deacons narrowed the gap to one at the break and stretched the Husker defense out in the second half by nailing three of their first four 3-point attempts.

Nebraska refused to let Wake Forest establish anything more than a three-point advantage, but the Cornhuskers could not muster enough offense to take advantage.
