No. 17 Pittsburgh dispatched cross-town rival Duquense, 60-49, Wednesday night, taking an 11-point lead in the first half and surviving a second-half run.

Ashton Gibbs scored 18 for the Panthers (6-1), who have now won four straight. Dante Taylor added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Pittsburgh, which crushed Duquense (4-3) on the boards, 39-15. The Panthers' dominance extended beyond the lane, as they sank 11 of their 21 3-point attempts.

Pittsburgh led 38-27 at the break, but the Dukes made a push early in the second half, closing to within four points before the Panthers regained control. Duquense, which was led by 19 points from Sean Johnson and 15 points and four steals from T.J. McConnell, forced Pittsburgh into 23 turnovers, while giving up only 12.
