Freshman Chasson Randle had 15 points and six rebounds in his Stanford debut and the Cardinal rolled to a 91-52 victory over visiting Central Arkansas in the season opener for both teams on Friday.

Stanford, which has won 22 of its last 24 season openers, outrebounded the Bears by 18 in the first half and led 51-18 at the break.

Mark Rutledge scored 16 points to lead Central Arkansas, which was 5-24 overall and 1-15 in the Southland Conference last year. LaQuentin Miles added 14 points and six rebounds. The Bears were only 1-of-15 from beyond the arc.

The highly recruited Randle was named co-Mr. Basketball in Illinois, and made a strong first impression at Maples Pavilion. Randle played 27 minutes at point guard and added four assists.

Stanford, which was picked to finish sixth in the Pac-12 preseason media poll, had 10 players in the scoring column against the Bears.

Aaron Bright led the Cardinal with 16 points, while Josh Owens and Anthony Brown scored 13 points apiece.

Stanford forward Dwight Powell missed the game with a sprained ankle, but is expected to return when the Cardinal play next week in the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off.
