TUCSON, Ariz. – Mike Bruesewitz had 11 points - including a 3-pointer with 1:32 left that put Wisconsin ahead for good - as the Badgers defeated Kansas State 70-65 in the third round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

Jacob Pullen, who had a game-high 38 points, tied it at 61 for Kansas State on a rebound off his own miss with 2:42 left. After the Wildcats got the ball back, Jordan Taylor (12 points) responded with a steal and Bruesewitz was open for his 3-pointer.

Pullen had a chance to tie it at 66 when he was fouled while attempting a 3-pointer, but missed the middle free throw.

The fourth-seeded Badgers (25-8) were 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the final 16.4 seconds to seal it.

Jon Leuer scored 19 points and Josh Gasser added 11 for Wisconsin, which will play Butler in the Southeast Regional semifinals in New Orleans on Thursday.

Pullen was 13 for 22 from the field, including 6 for 8 from 3-point range, and became Kansas State’s all-time scoring leader, passing Mike Evans.

Curtis Kelly added 11 points and nine rebounds for fifth-seeded Kansas State (23-11).

Wisconsin trailed by four 13 minutes into the game, but finished the half with a 19-9 run to take a 36-30 lead.

Only three players had a field goal for Kansas State, while Wisconsin had eight.
