TUCSON, Ariz. – Billy White recorded his third straight double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and No. 2 seed San Diego State beat seventh-seeded Temple 71-64 in double overtime in the third round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

Kawhi Leonard scored six of his 16 points in the second overtime and Chase Tapley had 12 points - all on 3-pointers - for San Diego State (34-2), which will meet Connecticut in the West Regional semifinals in Anaheim, Calif., on Thursday.

Leonard added nine rebounds, four assists and three steals as the Aztecs won the second NCAA tournament game in school history. Malcolm Thomas finished with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Leonard opened the second overtime with two free throws and after Temple closed within 67-64, he drained two more from the charity stripe with 30 ticks left. He capped the scoring with a breakaway jam with 20 seconds to play. White had a tip-in and jumper in the decisive final five minutes.

Lavoy Allen had 12 points and 11 rebounds to pace Temple (26-8), which forced the first overtime on Allen’s jumper with 53 seconds left. Ramone Moore had 17 points, Juan Fernandez and Khalif Wyatt scored 14 apiece and Rahlir Jefferson grabbed 11 rebounds.

Temple trailed for most of the game and was behind by as many as 11 early.

The Aztecs outrebounded Temple 40-29 and were 9 of 9 from the free-throw line.
