Duke looked like a No. 1 seed in a dominating 75-58 victory over North Carolina in the ACC tournament final Sunday in Greensboro, N.C.

ACC Player of the Year Nolan Smith had 20 points and 10 assists to lead the Blue Devils to their third straight and 19th overall ACC tournament title.

The defending national champions will have to wait a few hours before finding out if the win earned them a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. The brackets will be released at 6 p.m. ET.

Duke (30-4) dominated from the opening tip, building an 11-point lead in the first nine minutes. The Blue Devils maintained a double-digit lead for all but one possession in the second half.

Every time the Tar Heels (26-7) threatened to cut into the lead, the Blue Devils had an answer. Seth Curry, Ryan Kelly and Andre Dawkins each hit big run-killing 3-pointers for Duke, which shot 50 percent from the field.

North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes struggled and finished with 16 points, one day after setting the freshman tournament record with 40 in the Tar Heels’ overtime win over Clemson. Tyler Zeller had 14 for the Tar Heels, who also will be a high seed in the NCAA tournament.

The game marked the 14th consecutive season Duke or North Carolina has played in the ACC championship, but the first time the archrivals have met in the final since 2001.
