Nebraska is heating up as Big 12 season approaches. The Cornhuskers took care of North Dakota 77-46 Monday in Lincoln, Neb.

The Huskers (11-2) won their ninth straight with ease, and stifled the Fighting Sioux with what has been an improved defense in coach Doc Sadler's second season. North Dakota (5-9) shot 27.6 percent and fell to 0-7 on the road.

Nebraska ranks eighth nationally in scoring defense, and is in the top 20 in field-goal percentage. The Huskers shot 55.4 percent and had four players score in double figures. Eshaunte Jones and Brandon Ubel led the way off the bench with 11 apiece.

Patrick Mitchell led North Dakota with 14 points.

Nebraska has one more tuneup against Savannah State Wednesday before opening Big 12 play at home against Iowa State on Saturday.
