Turns out Nebraska is able to put the ball in the basket. Huskers observers were beginning to question this fundamental quality of their team. But a decisive 62-47 victory over Hofstra laid those concerns to rest, and helped Nebraska exit the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on an upswing.

Puerto Rican native Jorge Brian Diaz scored 11 points and the Cornhuskers shot 54.8 percent from the floor, including 6-of-12 from the arc, as 10 players got into the scoring problem. The Huskers shot a meager 40 percent while dropping two straight games in the Island tournament, but they were able to right the ship Sunday morning.

Hofstra seemed to inherit its opponents’ shooting woes. The Pride shot only 31 percent from the field. Standout guard Charles Jenkins scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting and added five assists.

Nebraska led 32-21 at the half and Lance Jeter's 3-pointer sparked a 7-2 run to start the second half. Jeter had six points, six assists and two steals.
