JaJuan Johnson scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds, leading No. 8 Purdue to a 72-61 victory at Indiana on Wednesday night.

The Boilermakers (23-5, 12-3) never trailed after opening the game with a 7-0 burst. Indiana was able to cut a 10-point halftime deficit to three midway through the second half, but a jump shot by Johnson set off a 12-3 run that made it 65-53 with 3:45 to go. The Hoosiers were held without a field goal for five minutes and 13 seconds during that decisive stretch.

E'Twaun Moore added 17 points for Purdue, which remains one game back of Ohio State in the Big Ten standings. Christian Watford led Indiana (12-15, 3-11) with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jordan Hulls added 15 points.

Purdue shot 50 percent from the field while limiting the Hoosiers — the second-best shooting team in the conference — to 38 percent (19 of 50).
