Jordan Morgan scored 27 points on 11-of-13 shooting and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 and 10 rebounds as Michigan held off a late charge by Northwestern en route to a 75-66 victory in Ann Arbor on Wednesday.

Darius Morris chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Wolverines (15-10, 5-7 Big Ten), who have won four of five but are likely only playing for a spot in the NIT. Michigan moved into eighth place in the Big Ten with Wednesday's win.

Michael Thompson scored 17 points for the Wildcats (14-9, 4-8), whose slim hopes for an at-large NCAA Tournament berth took a big hit with their fourth loss in five games.

Morgan scored 17 points in the first half, including eight during a 17-5 run to close the period and send Michigan into the break with a 34-19 lead.

The Wolverines kept the double-digit advantage through most of the second half, with Morgan’s free throws at the 5:02 mark making it 67-52. Northwestern had one last push in it, draining four straight 3-pointers and getting a layup from JerShon Cobb during a 14-0 burst that made it 67-66 with 2:23 left.

But Michigan didn't let the Wildcats score again and got four more points from Morgan in the final 1:36 to seal it.
