Jimmer Fredette scored 29 points to become the all-time leading scorer in Mountain West Conference history, as No. 9 Brigham Young posted a 78-63 victory over visiting Nevada-Las Vegas on Saturday.

Fredette was 16-of-16 from the free-throw line and also had seven assists during a contest in which the Cougars (22-2, 8-1 Mountain West) limited UNLV to 26.1 percent shooting from the field.

Fredette has 2,194 career points, surpassing former San Diego State guard Brandon Heath (2,189 from 2003-07) as the league’s top scorer.

Tre’Von Willis scored a team-high 15 points for the Rebels (17-6, 5-4).

Jackson Emery scored 15 points and Stephen Rogers added 12 points, as BYU swept the regular-season series from UNLV for the first time since 2005.

Chace Stanback and Anthony Marshall added 14 points for UNLV. Stanback hit just 5 of 16 shots from the field. Willis was just 3 of 14 and Oscar Bellfield was 2 for 13.

BYU made 24 of 25 free throws.
