Jeff Robinson added 20 points for Seton Hall (10-12, 4-6 Big East), which took a 31-16 lead with 4:28 to go in the first half after a 20-5 run. The Friars didn’t get back within single digits until less than two minutes remained in the game.

Seton Hall won despite an off game from leading scorer Jeremy Hazell, who went 3 of 12 for 10 points. Hazell had 28 points in Tuesday’s win at Syracuse.

It was a disappointing result for Providence (13-9, 2-7 Big East), which beat Louisville and Villanova in its previous two games for the program’s first consecutive wins against ranked foes since 1998.
