Tim Douglas scored 26 points Saturday and host Portland beat No. 24 Saint Mary’s 85-70 after starting the second half with a 27-2 run.

Jared Stohl scored 21 points and Nemanja Mitrovic added 13 for Portland (16-6, 4-3 West Coast Conference), which improved to 12-0 at home.

Saint Mary’s (18-4, 6-1), which trailed 33-31 at halftime, was led by Mickey McConnell’s career-high 32 points, including 21 in the second half. Rob Jones added 11 points and six rebounds for the Gaels, who were coming off their first win at Gonzaga since 1995, a 73-71 triumph on Thursday.

After McConnell hit one of his five 3-pointers heading into halftime, Portland opened the second half with three straight 3-pointers to start its big run. Saint Mary’s answered with a 13-0 run, but the Pilots never trailed in the second half.

Portland’s leading scorer, forward Luke Sikma, battled foul trouble and finished with two points - 12 under his season average. In his second career start at point guard, Douglas shot 10 of 15 from the field, including 4 of 4 from beyond the arc.

The Gaels entered the game as one of only three Division I teams in the country shooting above 50 percent from the field, but the Pilots limited them to 25 of 64 (39.1 percent).
