Jeremy Hazell returned from a wrist injury and gun-shot wound three weeks ago to score 23 points and spark a second-half surge that pushed Seton Hall to a 78-67 win over DePaul on Wednesday night in Rosemont, Ill.

Holding a slim 55-50 lead with 9:47 remaining, the Pirates (8-9, 2-3 Big East) put together a 12-2 run that stretched the lead to 15 points by the seven-minute mark. Hazell kicked off the spurt with a layup and a steal that led to another basket.

Seton Hall shot 58.5 percent (31 of 53) from the floor to overpower the Blue Demons, who committed just six turnovers and attempted 12 more field goals. The Pirates also got a lift from their bench, which outscored DePaul's, 31-11.

Herb Pope added 15 points for Seton Hall, while Cleveland Melvin led DePaul (6-10, 0-4) with 21 points and nine rebounds.
