Draymond Green led the way with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Delvon Roe had eight points and 10 rebounds as No. 19 Michigan State held off Northwestern 65-62 on Monday.

Durrell Summers added 12 points for the Spartans (10-4, 2-0 Big Ten), who face another road test this weekend at Penn State.

Green paced Michigan State with 10 points and seven rebounds in the first half as it took a 35-31 lead into the break. The Spartans maintained the slim margin thanks in part to a 21-9 advantage on the boards and a 10-1 run midway through the period.

The Spartans led by 13 points when Kalin Lucas hit a jumper with 3:51 left, but the Wildcats came right back, and got nine points from Michael Thompson during a 12-0 run that cut it to 63-62 with 32 seconds left. Lucas missed the front end of a one-and-one, but Green got the offensive rebound and put it back to break a three-minute scoring drought.

Thompson’s 3-point attempt with eight seconds left was blocked, and Drew Crawford could not hit a jumper as time expired, allowing Michigan State to escape with the win.

Crawford scored a game-high 17 points.
