Tony Freeland scored 16 points and DePaul posted a 10th straight win over rival Loyola-Chicago, 81-74, on Saturday.

Cleveland Melvin and Mike Stovall each had 13 points for the Blue Demons (5-6), who have won 13 of the last 14 meetings and haven’t lost to the Ramblers at home since 1989. Geoff McCammon scored 31 points for Loyola-Chicago (8-4), which has lost four of five since starting the season 7-0.

In a back-and-forth contest, the Blue Demons opened up a 10-point lead with a 7-0 spurt midway through the second half. Freeland scored four points and Krys Faber added a 3-pointer to make it 54-44 with 10:09 remaining.

The Ramblers were unable to recover until it was too late. Loyola pulled to within 76-70 with 44 seconds left on a pair of free throws from McCammon, but Freeland made two free throws to make it an eight-point game.

The Blue Demons hit seven free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
