Travis McKie finished with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and added 14 rebounds as Wake Forest held off North Carolina-Greensboro, 69-67, Wednesday.

J.T. Terrell added 14 points and Ari Stewart had 12 for the Demon Deacons (6-4), who have struggled with a relatively light pre-conference slate and still have five more to go before diving into ACC play.

Wake Forest allowed the Spartans to hang around in the first half, going into the break with a six-point lead despite shooting 48 percent.

The Demon Deacons never could pull away in the second half, building a 53-45 lead midway through only to allow UNC Greensboro to go on a 10-0 run and take the lead with 9:09 left. It went back and forth for a few minutes, with Wake Forest eventually retaking the lead for good when Stewart hit a pair of free throws with 4:56 on the clock.

McKie’s three-point play with 3:42 on the clock made it 64-60. The Spartans had a chance to tie with 13 seconds left but Kyle Randall missed a free throw that would have completed a three-point play.
