Chris Warren scored 20 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer and a pair of game-clinching free throws, as Mississippi held on for an 86-81 victory over rival Southern Miss on Saturday.

Zach Graham had 16 points for the Rebels (4-2), who bounced back after a dismal showing against Miami on Tuesday, when Ole Miss trailed by 30 points at the half before losing 86-73.

In this one, neither team led by more than five points over the last 14 minutes.

Ole Miss took the lead for good thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers from Warren that made it 78-76 with 4:16 left. The teams then traded free throws over the last four minutes and Warren's free throws with 29 seconds left sealed the win.

It was the first loss of the season for the Golden Eagles (5-1), who had won five straight by an average of 27.8 points against lesser competition.

R.L. Horton had 20 points for the Golden Eagles, who have lost 18 of the 23 meetings between the schools.
