Lance Jeter had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Caleb Walker added 10 for the Huskers (4-2), who trailed by as many as 20 in the first half.

Donte Smith and Alex Stepheson each had 14 points for USC (4-3), which continues to rely heavily on its freshmen. Jones had 10 points and five rebounds, Bryce Jones had six points, and fellow freshman Garrett Jackson scored seven points. Stepheson led the Trojans with nine rebounds.

USC led 39-26 at halftime after shooting 56.7 percent from the field (17-of-30) and outrebounding the Huskers by seven. In the second half, Nebraska opened with a 20-10 run and took its first lead of the game, 56-55, on a Walker free throw with 4:47 remaining.

USC is in the midst of playing eight games in 17 days to start the season, and it may have caught up to them against the Huskers as the Trojans made just one field goal in the final 7:46.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s game began a school-record 10-game homestand for the Huskers, who will not leave Lincoln until the start of Big 12 action in January.
