No. 17 Baylor survived a stern test from visiting La Salle and held on for a 74-64 win Tuesday afternoon in Waco, Texas.

Baylor (2-0) played without its leading returning scorer LaceDarius Dunn, who is suspended for the first three games. Dunn is eligible to return for the Nov. 22 game against Lipscomb.

Without Dunn, the Bears struggled to find much perimeter scoring against the La Salle zone. Luckily for Baylor, Quincy Acy was dominant on the inside. The 6-foot-7 junior forward scored on alley-oop dunks, offensive rebounds and put-backs, and by getting out in the open floor for transition baskets. Acy finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds, six of which came on the offensive end.

Still, La Salle hung tough and was within 10 points throughout the second half until Baylor, which led by only three at halftime put the game away with a late run.

Aaric Murray led the Explorers (1-1) with 17 points.
