Using balanced scoring and solid defense, the Portland Trail Blazers pulled away from the hapless Atlanta Hawks in the second half Friday night to notch a 110-89 win at Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

CJ McCollum led seven double-figure scorers for Portland (20-18) with 20 points, adding six assists and four rebounds. Damian Lillard and Al-Farouq Aminu each scored 14 points, while forward Ed Davis came off the bench to net 12.

Portland's Jusuf Nurkic and reserve guard Pat Connaughton each tallied 11 points, and Evan Turner hit for 10.

The Trail Blazers moved the ball well and got good shots most of the night, converting 53.8 percent of their shots and drawing 30 assists on 43 field goals. They were 13 of 30 from 3-point range.

Dennis Schroder scored 14 points but made just 5 of 14 field-goal tries for Atlanta (10-28), while Taurean Price added 11 points and eight rebounds. No one else reached double figures for the Hawks, which maintained the NBA's worst record.

Coming off a demoralizing loss Tuesday night in which it blew an eight-point lead with 1:37 left as the Phoenix Suns took a 104-103 win, Atlanta sank only 36.1 percent of its field-goal attempts Friday and hit just 8 of 26 3-point tries.

However, the Hawks were in the game for a half, actually pulling within 47-46 at the 2:27 mark of the second quarter on John Collins' jumper before Portland expanded the lead to 52-46 at intermission.

The third quarter started with a delay-of-game call on Atlanta, followed by a turnover that led to a transition bucket by Lillard. That was a sign of coming attractions as the Trail Blazers pushed the advantage to 74-57 at the 5:12 mark of the period on a foul shot by Nurkic.

Portland led by 14 after three quarters and quickly upped the margin to 93-70 with 9:33 left on a pullup jumper by Connaughton, rendering the game's remainder a race to the final horn.

The Hawks finished with more turnovers (16) than assists (14).
