Grizzlies 108, Lakers 103: Courtney Lee scored 18 points and Tony Allen added 17 off the bench as host Memphis held off a late charge from Los Angeles.

Marc Gasol tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have won 17 of their last 22 and climbed within a half game of eighth-place Phoenix in the Western Conference playoff race. James Johnson scored 14 points in a reserve role and Zach Randolph added 13 as Memphis outscored Los Angeles by a whopping 56-34 margin in the paint.

Jodie Meeks put up 19 points and Wesley Johnson added 18 for the Lakers, who have dropped seven of eight and occupy the cellar in the West. Pau Gasol collected 17 points and 10 rebounds against his former team and Jordan Farmar scored 16 off the bench for Los Angeles, which was without swingman Nick Young (knee) and center Chris Kaman (back).

Memphis watched its 22-point lead dwindle to an 82-73 advantage entering the fourth quarter and the Lakers made the Grizzlies sweat in the final minute. Farmar hit a pair of 3-pointers in the last 20 seconds to get Los Angeles within 106-103 before Lee made a pair of free throws to seal it.

The Grizzlies scored a season-high 65 points in the first half and took a 19-point lead into the break. They pushed the margin to 76-54 on Randolph's 20-foot jumper with just over six minutes left in the third before the Lakers answered with a 17-2 burst to make things interesting down the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis held a 45-34 edge on the boards, extending the Lakers' franchise-record streak to 18 consecutive games in which they have failed to outrebound their opponent. … Los Angeles has allowed 100 or more points in 21 of its last 25 games. … The Grizzlies reportedly claimed G Beno Udrih off waivers. Udrih has averaged 8.9 points in his 10-year NBA career, including 5.6 points per game this season with the New York Knicks.
