Jason Terry scored six points in overtime and the Dallas Mavericks held the host Houston Rockets to only one field goal in the first 4:40 of the extra session en route to a 98-91 victory Monday night.

Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Shawn Marion and Terry added 21 points for the Mavericks, who completed a four-game season sweep over the Rockets for the first time since 2002-03.

Dallas (56-25) moved one-half game ahead of the idle Los Angeles Lakers for the No. 2 spot in the West, although the Lakers hold the tiebreaker. The Mavericks are also a full game in front of Oklahoma City, which won at Sacramento later Monday. Dallas closes against New Orleans on Wednesday.

Kevin Martin scored 28 points, and Goran Dragic had 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Rockets (42-39).

Terry had a chance to win it with 1.2 seconds left in regulation, but missed the second of two free throws after he got Chuck Hayes off his feet on a pump fake on a long jumper.
