Brock Holt delivered a two-run double in the eighth inning to lift the Texas Rangers to a 7-6 win against the Los Angeles Angels in the rubber game of their three-game series on Thursday afternoon in Arlington, Tex.

DJ Peters doubled off Jimmy Herget (2-3) with one out in the eighth to put runners on second and third and Holt came through with his double down the right field line.

Peters also hit a three-run homer and Adolis Garcia had a two-run shot to help the Rangers (59-100) rally from an early 5-0 deficit.

Jared Walsh had three hits, Shohei Ohtani doubled and tripled, and Taylor Ward had a two-run double in the first inning before departing with right abductor tightness for Los Angeles (75-84).

Angels starter Alex Cobb allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Texas rookie right-hander Glenn Otto had a rough start and was relieved after two innings. He allowed five runs and six hits, struck out two and walked one in his sixth MLB start.

Spencer Patton (2-2) threw two innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. Joe Barlow pitched the ninth for his 11th save.

The Angels got to Otto quickly, scoring five runs in the first inning.

Brandon Marsh led off with a single before Ohtani tripled to deep right field for a 1-0 lead. Ohtani has eight triples this season, tied for the major league lead with David Peralta of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Walsh followed with a single to center to drive in Ohtani to make it 2-0.

Otto got the next two batters out, but then surrendered a two-run double to Ward and a run-scoring single to Luis Rengifo for a 5-0 Angels lead.

Cobb got the first two outs in the third, but then gave up a walk and a single before Peters slammed a three-run homer over the fence in center to cut it to 5-3.

Juan Lagares replaced Ward in left field and came through with an RBI single in the fifth to make it 6-3.

The Rangers came back in the bottom half of the inning and cut the lead even further on a two-run homer by Garcia that made it 6-5. It was Garcia's 31st homer of the season.
