Will Smith hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers pushed past the visiting Colorado Rockies for a 5-2 victory Saturday.

Chris Taylor hit a home run, Trea Turner had three hits and six Dodgers pitchers combined to give up just three hits as Los Angeles improved to 11-4 against their division rival. The Dodgers also improved to 17-3 overall since Aug. 7.

Despite losing starter Jon Gray to an injury in the third inning, three Rockies pitchers held down the Los Angeles offense until right-hander Daniel Bard entered in the eighth. Bard, just removed from his closer role, was pitching in the eighth for the second consecutive game.

The Rockies struck first for the second night in a row. Gray laid down a sacrifice bunt in the third inning that moved runners to second and third before Connor Joe's sacrifice fly put Colorado up 1-0.

The Dodgers answered in their half of the third, loading the bases with nobody out on a Turner single with walks to Max Muncy and Mookie Betts. Justin Turner's double-play grounder scored a run, but they failed to score again in the inning.

The Rockies regained the lead in the fourth inning on Ryan McMahon's RBI groundout, but the Dodgers answered again with Taylor's home run down the line in left field. It was Taylor's 19th of the season but just his second home run in 23 games.

The Dodges loaded the bases with nobody out in the eighth as Muncy singled against Bard (7-7), and Betts and Justin Turner followed with walks. Smith then pulled a two-run single to left field for his seventh hit and fifth RBI over his last four games as the Dodgers led for the first time at 4-2.

AJ Pollock added a pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth inning for the Dodgers.

Blake Treinen (4-5) pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Dodgers to earn the victory, while Kenley Jansen pitched the ninth for his 29th save. Jansen's 341st career save moved him into a tie for 14th place all-time with Rollie Fingers.
