Jake Cronenworth's tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning shattered Aaron Nola's brilliant complete-game bid, and the San Diego Padres beat the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 on a wild pitch in the 10th Saturday night.

The Padres snapped a four-game losing streak.

Nola, perfect through six innings, allowed only an RBI single to Manny Machado in the seventh and struck out 11 when he walked Fernando Tatis Jr. with one out in the ninth and Philadelphia ahead 3-1. After getting Machado to fly out for the second out, Cronenworth belted Nola's 117th pitch of the night into the right-center field seats.

Philadelphia had two men on in the 10th but failed to score.

San Diego, which had lost eight of nine entering this contest, did the same in the bottom half of the frame and took advantage when Connor Brogdon (5-3) bounced a pitch catcher Andrew Knapp could not handle to score Adam Frazier from third.

After snapping a four-game skid with Friday's series-opening victory, the Phillies lost for the eighth time in the last 11 games.

Nola had helped his cause at the plate, leading off the eighth of a 1-1 game with a double to right-center field. He later scored the tiebreaking run when Didi Gregorius was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Philadelphia went up 3-1 when Brad Miller, whose error on Trent Grisham's chopper in the seventh ended Nola's perfect-game bid, was also hit with the bags full.

Philadelphia wasted no time getting to Padres starter Joe Musgrove, who yielded a homer to Odubel Cabrera on the second pitch of the game. Musgrove allowed two more runners in the inning but got out of that jam and settled down enough to essentially match Nola before leaving after six innings.

Musgrove allowed three hits and two walks while striking out nine for the Padres, who have not recorded a hit during the right-hander's 11 innings over his last two starts.
