C.J. Cron homered and had two hits, German Marquez had two hits and pitched strongly into the seventh inning, and the Colorado Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 7-3 in Denver on Tuesday night.

Charlie Blackmon also homered while Brendan Rodgers and Elias Diaz added two hits apiece for Colorado.

Jake Cronenworth had two hits, including an inside-the-park home run, and Fernando Tatis Jr. and Tommy Pham went deep for the Padres, who have lost six of their last seven.

The Rockies scored first against Matt Strahm (0-1). Connor Joe and Rodgers led off the bottom of the first with singles to put runners at the corners; and, one out later, Joe scored on a groundout.

Colorado added to its lead in the fourth. Diaz reached on a one-out ground-rule double, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a single by Marquez. Joe walked and Rodgers hit a double to drive in Marquez to make it 3-0.

The Rockies struck again in the sixth. Diaz led off with a triple off the wall in center and scored on a double by Marquez one out later.

Marquez entered the seventh having given up only a single and a walk, but San Diego's bats woke up. Tatis started things with a long home run to center, his NL-leading 34th of the season, to put the Padres on the board.

One out later, Cronenworth hit a ball off the wall in right-center field; it caromed by Blackmon and center fielder Sam Hilliard, allowing Cronenworth to race around the bases for his 18th homer of the season.

Pham followed with a 486-foot home run, his 13th homer, and Eric Hosmer's single chased Marquez.

Marquez (11-9) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out four in 6 1/3 innings.

Colorado answered in the bottom of the inning. Trevor Story walked and, after Tim Hill relieved Miguel Diaz, Blackmon homered to dead center. Cron followed with his 21st homer to push the lead back to four runs.
