Max Muncy's grand slam highlighted a five-run fifth inning, and the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers extended their winning streak to six games with a 6-2, five-inning, rain-shortened triumph over the Washington Nationals on Thursday night in Washington D.C.

A.J. Pollock hit a game-tying homer to lead off the fifth, and Muncy eventually broke the game open with his fourth homer in five games. Los Angeles used four pitchers in a bullpen game, with Tony Gonsolin (1-0) allowing a run over three innings of relief to pick up the win.

Patrick Corbin (5-7) allowed both homers and five earned runs with eight hits over 4 2/3 innings for Washington, which had won four straight and 14 of the previous 17 games. The Nationals have been outscored 19-7 while losing all four meetings with the Dodgers this season.

Kyle Schwarber did not lead off the game with a homer, but delivered a first-inning double instead for the Nationals. He eventually scored on Juan Soto's single to left for a 1-0 Washington lead.

Los Angeles tied it with Albert Pujols' RBI single in the fourth, but the Nationals took the lead right back in the bottom of the frame on Starlin Castro's run-scoring hit.

The Dodgers, though, made it 2-2 with Pollock's seventh homer that just cleared the left-center field wall in the fifth. After an infield single from Steven Souza Jr., Chris Taylor walked, Justin Turner singled to center and Muncy came through with a bases-clearing blast into the right-field second deck for his second career grand slam.

After Washington failed to score in the bottom of the fifth, the tarp was put on the field and heavy rains, with high winds, halted play. The game was eventually called after a rain delay of one hour, 16 minutes.

One day after recording his third-career cycle, Washington's Trea Turner was out of the starting lineup and is day-to-day with a jammed middle finger on his left hand.
