Willians Astudillo had four hits, including a homer, scored four runs and drove in two more as the Minnesota Twins became the first team to hit 300 home runs in a season when they completed a three-game series sweep by pounding the host Detroit Tigers 10-4 on Thursday.

Minnesota rested most of its regulars after clinching the American League Central Division title on Wednesday.

Jonathan Schoop hit the milestone 300th homer and drove in three runs. Minnesota and the New York Yankees have already shattered the previous record for homers in a season.

Jake Cave supplied two hits, including a two-run triple. Ian Miller added the first two hits of his major-league career while scoring and driving in a run.

Devin Smeltzer (2-2) gave up three runs in five innings and notched the victory.

Detroit starter Jordan Zimmerman (1-13) allowed six runs, four earned, in 4 1/3 innings. Willi Castro had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run while Victor Reyes added two hits and two RBIs in the Tigers' home finale.

Miller's first major-league hit came during the third inning and brought in the first run.

Detroit scored in the bottom of the inning on Miguel Cabrera's RBI groundout.

The Twins moved ahead 2-1 in the fourth on Schoop's RBI single.

The Tigers came right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Castro and Reyes.

A Castro error began the Twins' four-run eruption in the fifth. With two on and one out, Astudillo delivered an RBI single. Cave's triple brought in two more runs. Cave scored on a Victor Alcantara wild pitch to make it 6-3.

Reyes' RBI single in the sixth cut Minnesota's lead to two runs.

The Twins responded with three more runs in the seventh. Schoop's 23rd homer of the season increased Minnesota's lead to five runs. Astudillo, who singled to lead off the inning, also scored on the long ball. Ryan LaMarre scored later in the inning on an error by first baseman John Hicks.

Astudillo's solo blast in the eighth gave the Twins a six-run advantage.
