Wil Myers singled home Manny Machado with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the San Diego Padres to a 2-1 win against the visiting Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.

Machado drew a one-out walk in the 10th from right-handed reliever Jesus Tinoco. Left-hander Sam Howard came on and walked the only hitter he faced, Eric Hosmer. Myers then greeted right-hander Yency Almonte, the eighth Colorado pitcher, with a line-drive RBI single to center.

Tinoco (0-2) took the loss. Craig Stammen (8-7), the fifth pitcher deployed by the Padres, struck out two in the top of the 10th inning.

It was just the third win in 10 extra-inning games this season for San Diego. The Padres took two out of three in the series. Colorado has now lost 11 of its last 13 games and 15 of 17.

The Padres tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth and could have had more against Rockies starter Peter Lambert.

Myers doubled with one out to extend his longest hitting streak of the season to eight games but he was immediately picked off second by Lambert.

Josh Naylor then hit a double and Austin Hedges drew a walk ahead of Luis Urias' bloop single into short center that scored Naylor.

The Rockies struck first in the third inning against Padres starter Eric Lauer, who entered the game with a career 11.91 ERA in five starts against the Rockies.

Pat Valaika opened the third with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Drew Butera's sacrifice fly.

Lauer allowed the one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. Lambert allowed his run on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

After Lauer departed, Padres relievers David Bednar, Matt Strahm, Kirby Yates and Stammen retired 12 straight Rockies.
