Kole Calhoun and Brian Goodwin came up with clutch hits in the seventh inning, Mike Trout hit his major league-leading 43rd home run, and the Los Angeles Angels rallied for a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night in Anaheim, Calif.

Rangers starter Mike Minor thoroughly stifled the Angels through six innings, shutting them out on one hit. But in the seventh, the Los Angeles offense came to life, highlighted by a two-run double by Calhoun and a pinch-hit, two-run single by Goodwin.

Trout, hitless in his first three at-bats, homered in the eighth inning, ending a homerless streak of five games.

The victory allowed Los Angeles to end a five-game losing streak. The Rangers fell for the fourth time in five games.

Angels starter Andrew Heaney, coming off a 14-strikeout performance in his previous start (also against the Rangers), struck out five of the first six batters he faced.

In the third inning, Delino DeShields singled and went to second on an error by the right fielder Calhoun with one out. With two outs, Shin-Soo Choo singled to right field, scoring DeShields to give Texas a 1-0 lead.

That unearned run was the only tally allowed in six innings by Heaney, who struck out 10, the fourth time in 13 starts this season he's fanned 10 or more. He yielded four hits and three walks.

Meanwhile, Minor (11-8) was sharp. He gave up a single to Andrelton Simmons in the second inning, a walk to Simmons in the fifth, and nothing else through six innings.

In the seventh, the Angels threatened by loading the bases on a single by Shohei Ohtani and walks to Justin Upton and Albert Pujols with no outs. Minor, though, got Simmons swinging on a first pitch, inducing a popout for the first out of the inning.

Calhoun followed with a double into the right-center-field gap, scoring two to give the Angels a 2-1 lead, but Pujols was held up at third. Luis Rengifo lined out for the second out of the inning before Goodwin grounded a single up the middle to score Pujols and Calhoun for a 4-1 Angels edge.

Danny Santana's 23rd homer of the season in the top of the eighth off Angels reliever Cam Bedrosian pulled the Rangers to within 4-2, but they could get no closer.

Angels reliever Miguel Del Pozo (1-0) got his first major league victory after retiring the only batter he faced. Hansel Robles pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 19th save.
