Matt Chapman, Stephen Piscotty and Chad Pinder homered in support of another strong pitching performance by right-hander Mike Fiers on Friday afternoon, lifting the visiting Oakland Athletics to a 7-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the opener of a three-game series.

Mark Canha added two hits and Dustin Garneau contributed a two-run double, helping the A's enjoy success on the South Side of Chicago after losing two of three on the North Side to the Cubs earlier in the week.

Fiers (11-3) extended his streak of unbeaten starts to 17 with seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks. He struck out eight.

The veteran improved to 4-0 in his last eight road starts and 4-0 in his career against the White Sox.

Fiers enjoyed a lead before his first pitch after Chapman belted his 25th homer of the season, a solo shot, on White Sox left-hander Ross Detwiler's sixth pitch of the game.

Piscotty made it 2-0 in the second with his 11th homer of the year, and the A's broke the game open with a five-run eighth.

Pinder followed a walk to Canha with a two-run homer, his 11th of the season, to double the Oakland advantage. After Khris Davis walked and Piscotty singled, Jurickson Profar doubled home a run for a 5-0 lead before Garneau lashed his two-run double to complete the scoring.

Jake Diekman and Joakim Soria each pitched a scoreless inning to complete Oakland's seventh shutout of the season. Fiers has started four of them.

Chapman and Piscotty also finished with two hits each for the A's, who swept a three-game home series against the White Sox in July.

Tim Anderson had two of Chicago's four hits as the White Sox lost for the ninth time in their last 10 home games.

The White Sox had no extra-base hits in the game.

Detwiler (1-3) allowed two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
