Scooter Gennett hit his first homer of the season, Buster Posey had a go-ahead pinch-hit double, and the visiting San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 6-5 in Denver on Saturday night.

Pablo Sandoval had three hits, Sam Coonrod (2-0) pitched one inning and Will Smith worked the ninth for his 27th save.

Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story homered and Daniel Murphy had three hits for Colorado.

Colorado rallied to take the lead but lost it in the eighth inning. With one out, reliever Carlos Estevez (1-2) walked pinch hitter Joe Panik, then gave up a line single to Austin Slater. Posey came on to pinch hit and lined a double to right to drive in two and give the Giants a 6-5 lead.

San Francisco threatened for more in the ninth inning. With two outs, Kevin Pillar, who came on as a pinch runner in the eighth, doubled, and the next two batters walked to load the bases. Brandon Belt, who had two hits, popped up behind home plate to end inning.

The Giants jumped out to an early lead on starter Jon Gray. With one out in the first inning, Mike Yastrzemski walked and scored on Sandoval's double down the left field line. After a flyout, Brandon Crawford singled to drive in another run and Gennett followed with his first homer of the season to make it 4-0.

Colorado chipped away at the lead. Murphy led off the second with a double, moved to third on a flyout and scored on Ryan McMahon's groundout.

The Rockies made it 4-3 in the third on a two-run homer by Story, his team-leading 24th of the season, and took the lead in the fifth.

Blackmon led off with his 22nd homer and, one out later, Nolan Arenado hit a bloop single to center. Murphy doubled, and Arenado scored from first when Gennett's relay throw was wide of home.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the sixth.
