Nelson Cruz went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs and Jake Odorizzi allowed just one run over 5 2/3 innings to pick up his first win of the season to help lead the Minnesota Twins to a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night in Minneapolis.

Odorizzi (1-2) allowed six hits and one walk while striking out six. Blake Parker retired all three batters he faced in the ninth, including two by strikeouts, to pick up his fourth save.

Jorge Polanco went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs, raising his average to .429, and Marwin Gonzalez also went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for the Twins.

Freddy Galvis went 2-for-4 with a run scored for Toronto, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Trent Thornton (0-2) took the loss for the Blue Jays. Thornton, making just his fourth career major league start, gave up four runs on six hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three.

Toronto took a 1-0 lead in the first when Galvis singled to left, tagged and went to second on a fly out by Randal Grichuk and then scored on a single to center by Justin Smoak.

Minnesota came back to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning. Max Kepler led off with a double and Polanco followed with a walk. After both runners advanced to third on a passed ball by catcher Luke Maile, Cruz drove in Kepler with a single to left. Polanco then scored when Eddie Rosario grounded into a double play.

The Twins extended their lead to 3-1 in the third when Polanco led off with a double to right and scored on a double to left by Cruz.

Minnesota then made it 4-1 in the fifth when Gonzalez singled to left with two outs off 19-year-old reliever Elvis Luciano, driving in Cruz who had walked, advanced to second on a walk to C.J. Cron and then was wild-pitched to third.
