Reds 10, Astros 0: Jay Bruce hit a grand slam and had five RBIs to back eight scoreless innings from Mike Leake in visiting Cincinnati's romp.

Leake (14-6) struck out six and allowed five hits to win his third straight start as the Reds moved within 1 1/2 games of Pittsburgh for the top wild card and stayed 4 1/2 in front of Washington for the second wild card.

Zack Cozart had two hits and drove in three runs to give him seven RBIs in the first two games of the series as Cincinnati sent Houston to its third consecutive 100-loss season. Todd Frazier had two hits and an RBI single and Xavier Paul added two hits and scored twice.

The Reds jumped on Astros starter Jordan Lyles for four runs in the first on RBI singles by Bruce and Frazier and a two-run single by Cozart, who also delivered an RBI single in the third. Bruce reached a pair of milestones and ended Lyles' night in the fourth with his grand slam to give him 30 homers and 100 RBIs.

Lyles (7-8) was pounded for nine runs - eight earned - and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings and failed to register a strikeout for the first time this season. Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 and has hit safely in 14 of 16 games this month.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruce became the sixth player in franchise history to hit 30 homers for three consecutive seasons. ... Astros 1B Chris Carter became the first player in the majors to strike out 200 times when he fanned in the second inning. ... Houston is the first team to lose 100 games three years in a row since the Kansas City Royals (2004-06).
