Derek Fisher hit a two-run homer and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Randal Grichuk each hit solo shots as the Toronto Blue Jays held on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 Wednesday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Toronto won the rubber match of the three-game series to complete a 7-3 road trip. It is the first time the Blue Jays have won a series against the Rays since Aug. 14-17, 2017.

After Wilmer Font allowed a single and a hit batter while striking out five in 2 1/3 innings as the opener, Brock Stewart (1-0) pitched four scoreless innings in his Blue Jays debut. Stewart, claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31, allowed two hits, two walks, hit a batter and struck out three.

Ken Giles picked up his 15th save despite allowing a single to Kevin Kiermaier and Mike Zunino's seventh home run of the season in the ninth.

Rays starter Brendan McKay (2-2) allowed three runs, six hits and one walk while striking out a season-best eight in five-plus innings.

Toronto's Bo Bichette doubled for a club-record eighth straight game in the third inning, extending his hitting streak to 10 games to start his major league career.

Gurriel hit the first pitch of the fourth inning for his 19th homer of the season. McKay pitched around an error and a single to finish the inning.

Grichuk led off the sixth with his 19th home run and when Justin Smoak followed with a single, Colin Poche replaced McKay and allowed a two-run homer to Fisher, his second of the season and first for the Blue Jays since being acquired in a trade with the Houston Astros last week.

Justin Shafer replaced Stewart with one out in the seventh after Kiermaier singled and finished the inning with a strikeout and a fly out.

Shafer retired the first two batters in the bottom of the eighth. Tim Mayza took over, allowing a double to Austin Meadows and an RBI single to Avisail Garcia, who extended his hit streak to eight games. Pinch hitter Jesus Aguilar grounded out to end the inning.
