Joey Votto capped a seven-run second inning Saturday afternoon with Cincinnati's second grand slam in as many games, leading the host Reds to a 7-2, rain-shortened victory over the San Diego Padres at Great American Ball Park.

The umpiring crew halted the game with one out in the top of the seventh due to unplayable conditions after an infield single by the Padres' Jose Pirela.

Right-hander Matt Harvey (7-8) gave up two runs -- on a fourth-inning homer by Eric Hosmer -- on four hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts over six innings to get the win.

Robbie Erlin (4-6), who gave up all seven runs on eight hits in the second, suffered his third consecutive loss.

The second inning was the only inning in which Cincinnati got a hit -- and two of the key hits were actually defensive failures by the Padres.

Eugenio Suarez opened the inning with a sharp single to left that got past Wil Myers, who was making only his 21st career start at third.

After Phillip Ervin flew out to right, Curt Casali and Brandon Dixon hit sharp singles, with Dixon driving in Suarez with the game's first run.

Harvey then laid down a bunt ... and for the third time in two games the Padres played an attempted sacrifice bunt into a hit. With a possible force at third, Erlin failed to field the ball, loading the bases. Casali then scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Billy Hamilton.

Scott Schebler, who hit a grand slam in Friday night's 12-6 Cincinnati win, singled home Harvey to make it 3-0, and Jose Peraza singled to reload the bases for Votto, who cleared them with a drive to right for his 10th homer of the season and the Reds' major-league-leading 11th grand slam of the campaign.

Erlin allowed seven runs on the eight hits over three innings.
