Indians 5, Angels 3 (10): Nick Swisher hit a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Cleveland an improbable victory over Los Angeles.

The Angels went ahead on Albert Pujols’ two-run single in the 10th before Cleveland loaded the bases on a double and two walks against rookie Cam Bedrosian (0-1) in the bottom of the inning. Ernesto Frieri entered to record the second out before serving up a high fastball that Swisher sent sailing over the right-field fence for his fourth career walk-off homer.

Los Angeles appeared to be in good shape when Kole Calhoun hit a two-out single and Mike Trout followed with a double before Pujols beat the shift by punching a full-count pitch from Scott Atchison through the right side of the infield for a 3-1 lead. Kyle Crockett (1-0) recorded the final out of the inning for his first major-league win.

Both starting pitchers allowed one run over seven innings before turning it over to the bullpens. The Angels' C.J. Wilson allowed three hits while striking out six and the Indians' Justin Masterson gave up four hits and struck out five.

Howie Kendrick doubled in the second for the Angels and moved to third on a grounder before scoring on Masterson’s wild pitch for an early 1-0 lead. Cleveland tied it in the third when Yan Gomes singled and Lonnie Chisenhall walked to start the inning and Gomes later scored on Michael Bourn’s infield out.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Trout was 1-for-3 with two walks to extend his hitting streak to 13 games and has reached base in 36 of his last 37 games. … Gomes had two of Cleveland’s six hits. … Pujols has nine RBIs over the last six games.
