Mariners 9, Blue Jays 7:
Humberto Quintero capped a six-run outburst with a two-run homer in the fifth as Seattle came from behind to knock off visiting Toronto and avoid a three-game sweep.

J.A. Happ made his first start since May 7 after suffering a concussion from a line drive to the head and was knocked around for seven runs on as many hits in four-plus innings. Happ surrendered an RBI double to Kendrys Morales and walked Michael Morse to load the bases before being removed in the fifth.

Aaron Loup (4-4) came on and yielded an RBI fielder’s choice before Justin Smoak’s two-run double off the top of the wall in left-center tied the game. Quintero came up two batters later and blasted a 3-1 fastball out to left-center to put Seattle on top.

The Mariners jumped on top with two runs in the first before Toronto exploded for five in the second. Josh Thole had the big hit with a two-run ground-rule double.

Edwin Encarnacion led off the third with his 30th home run and Adam Lind made it back-to-back blasts to chase Seattle starter Aaron Harang and give the Blue Jays a 7-2 cushion. Brandon Maurer (3-7) walked five in 3 1/3 innings of relief but did not allow a run to earn the win while Danny Farquhar picked up his third save.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Harang was charged with seven runs on five hits and three walks without striking out a batter in two-plus innings. The veteran has allowed 14 earned runs in seven innings over his last two turns. … Home plate umpire Dale Scott was hit in the face mask by a foul ball in the second inning and left the game before the third. First base umpire Todd Tichenor replaced Scott behind the plate. … Mariners 2B Nick Franklin snapped an 0-for-27 drought with an RBI triple in the first.
