Padres 12, Rockies 11: Yonder Alonso collected his fourth hit by ripping an RBI single to plate Everth Cabrera with two outs in the ninth inning as San Diego rebounded after squandering a six-run lead to win a wild affair at Petco Park.

The Padres regrouped after Josh Rutledge snapped an 0-for-24 slump with his first career grand slam to tie the game at 11-11 in the eighth inning. Cabrera had a one-out single and advanced to second on a balk from Matt Belisle (3-7). Chase Headley was intentionally walked to set the stage for Alonso, who lined an 0-1 fastball into left field to score Cabrera.

Joe Thatcher (1-4) struck out a pair to end a threat in the top of the ninth to pick up the victory.

Headley belted a two-run homer to highlight a season-high eight-run fifth inning and Logan Forsythe joined Alonso with four hits apiece for the Padres, who recorded their ninth win in 11 outings.

Starting pitcher Alex White homered for the second consecutive start by belting a three-run blast. Matt McBride also went deep for the first time in his career for the Rockies, who fell for the ninth time in 11 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: White became the first pitcher to go deep in consecutive starts since Josh Johnson accomplished the feat for the Marlins in 2009. White was so exited with his blast that he initially missed first base before going back and touching it. ... San Diego's previous best for runs in an inning was six, set on Aug. 10.
